NaNo Tip #4: The Time is Now

Hello Woodlings!

NaNo is winding down very, very quickly.  (Also very slowly, but that’s beside the point.)  If you’re like me on a normal NaNo year, You’re close, but you’ve fallen behind.  You’re just out of reach of the prize.

You’re not sure that you’re going to make it.

NaNo ends Thursday night.  THURSDAY.  That’s only… very few days away.  (Oh, why couldn’t NaNo happen on a 31 day month?)  But as it is, you’re not sure that you can finish. You need 10,000, maybe 15,000 words and pulling that off in three days?  Ha, not likely.

BUT HEY.  There’s a new Woodland Quill blog post with a new NaNo tip.  Maybe that will help.

Let’s hope so, but today my tip isn’t anything terribly original or earth shattering.  You want to hear it?

Facebook, social lives, sleep, and the rest of life are going to be there when you wake up Friday morning (or afternoon.)  NaNo will not.

You’ve come this far. You’ve worked so hard.  Don’t sell yourself short.  You can finish if you really focus.  If you really give it your best shot, the finish line is in reach.  Come Friday, that won’t be the case.

Now is the time, fellow NaNoers.  Rise up and conquer.  You’ll have all December to brag.

Brandon

Raised on C.S. Lewis and matured (to whatever extent) on Tolkien, Brandon Miller is a huge fan of Christian speculative fiction. His favorite stories artfully bend the physical reality to reveal spiritual realities which apply to all realms, kingdoms, districts and solar systems (including our own.)
When not writing fiction Brandon spends his time tending his blog The Woodland Quill, sportsing, or just struggling through that last-year-of-high-school/first-year-of-college which is really neither but is definitely both.

Nice tip Brandon! I have a tendency to not do any of that stuff during NaNo… But one must make sure that they also are taking care of themselves otherwise you have a slight issue of ‘NaNo Recovery Sickness.’
    Great post!

Recovery is so next week’s problem.
Good luck wrapping up your project!
